This project provides the first full-length grammatical description of /Xam - an extinct 'Khoisan' language that belonged to the TUU family (!Ui sub-branch) of southern Africa. The work is close to completion, and will enable scholars for the first time to engage directly with the extensive corpus of texts collected by Wilhelm Bleek and Lucy Lloyd between 1870 and 1875 (in Bleek's case) and 1870 and 1880 (in Lloyd's). The dictionary will have two-way look-up, /Xam-English and English-/Xam. It is planned to include a fully glossed and annotated text as an appendix to the grammar, but a more extensive collection of texts is currently also in the pipeline, for separate publication.
